WCON-07C Conversion Lens for C-5060

I have a Wide Angle Conversion Lens designed for use with an Olympus C-5060 camera. It comes with the CLA-7 lens adapter.

I've had it stored in the original carton in a closet for more years than I can remember. It is essentially brand new and available at no charge to the first person that contacts me here at Steve's.

To keep this simple, I'm offering it to those that reside in the United States as I'll pick up the cost of shipping.
I'd rather give this to someone who is a member of Steve's who can use it and appreciate it as opposed to selling it to a reseller.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the suggestion. But his last post that I could find was back in 2014.
I also thought about posting this in the Add On Lens forum but thought I'd get more people looking in the Olympus P&S forum.

Doesn't look like people are clamoring for this freebie.

When I first ran a search on posts started by Shinnen, the results didn't
Include his latest posted in the "what camera do I buy forum".

From the sound of the ongoing conversation the wide angle lens I have wouldn't meet his needs.

So let's back pedal a moment ...

What size is the CLA-7 adapter?
What mm size is it so that it might 'bolt onto' someone else's std lens?

To the best of my knowledge, the thread size on the CLA-7 adapter is 40.5mm.
There are no markings that are printed on the adapter itself. However, the C-5060WZ Camera has a lens that accepts 40.5mm filters.

One important point to consider is that the lens itself, uses a proprietary bayonet type connection. Thus the reason for the adapter.

I presume from here that anyone with an existing lens that took 40,5mm filter threads -or- via a 40,5mm to [say] 49/52/55mm dia adapter for a digital camera lens, might be able to make some use of your wide angle add-on lens

Hi,
Yes, besides the Olympus C-5060Wz and C-7070Wz, I'm aware of people using this lens on a Panasonic Fz28. I don't see why someone couldn't use it on a camera that had a lens with compatible thread or use an appropriate step up/step down ring.

The concerns that people should be aware of are:

The lens w/adapter weighs about 10 oz. and could prove to be too heavy on some cameras.

Due the large dia. (101mm) On board flash will be a problem with severe vignetting in the corners.
Also, because of the large diameter of the lens, the viewfinder will be unusable.
Requiring the use of a LCD display.

I agree with you here - someone with an 18-55 kit lens could find your lens a most useful & inexpensive addition to their armoury. As these lenses don't have all the electronics of a fixed-lens superzoom camera, it is a combo that might work "real well"

With its 0,7x lens factor, the 18-55 drops down to around 12-1/2mm, and that would give some really beaut super-wide shots
