[pics] Rainbow Lorikeet part 1

Another lovely February evening, another stroll to Billanook College with my camera. On this particular evening I was in for a real treat: a flock of cheeky Rainbow Lorikeets were pilfering grapes from the vineyard vines!

Part of the flock of Rainbow Lorikeets at the Billanook College vineyards weren’t satisfied with waiting their turn for a feed at the holes in the netting – they had made their way inside the netting & were gorging themselves on grapes! There were only a few holes large enough for the lorikeets to enter & exit so I thought this would be an excellent opportunity to get up close with these beautiful birds. I crawled under the netting & just sat quietly & observed the lorikeets for a while, which gave the birds some time to get used to my presence.

This juvenile lorikeet was happy to pose for me as long as I kept a little distance while it ate its share of grapes.

Hi Adam,

Great images of a very colorful bird! That 2nd image is very well exposed, framed with very fine detail.

Thnx for sharing.

Hi Adam: Your #2 is excellent, as zig said, well framed. At last, a bird that I recognize and have photographed often! :)
