Hello all. I'm an amateur as well as a newbie to the E-1 and really like it. I'm looking for a wide angle add-on lens to do pix of buildings, landscapes as well as large group gatherings. These will be used in professional print publications. Which of the two do you feel would be my best bet? I'm inclined to go with the 7-11, but it's also nearly twice the cost of the 11-22 for the E-1.
Thanks! :? |

There's also the 8mm but it's a fisheye lens (Olympus is supposed to be releasing an upgrade to Studio which is supposed to defish).
You really got to decide for yourself (I know what I'd like if money was no object, but it is so I'm getting the 8mm). Go to a friendly camera store that carries Oly lenses, and tell them that you can't make up your mind and if you can arrange a time (when they aren't busy) that you can come in and try the various lenses out. |

Thanks Mike.
I'm leaning towards the 7-11 right now, but the more feedback I get the mobetta I'll feel. |

Check out these links (Pbase allows you to search by brand, body, or lens):
7-14mm http://www.pbase.com/cameras/olympus...4_4_digital_ed 11-22mm http://www.pbase.com/cameras/olympus..._28-35_digital Just remember they may be shot by pros, or beginners. In many cases you can click on FULL EXIF to see what settings were used for an image. |

Here's a post I just started yesterday regarding my new 7-14, with some comments about my thought process as I made my decision:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=17201689 The attached is an image I took today as I did some walking around downtown during the lunch hour to see what the world looks like at 7mm. Actually, it's pretty darn cool.. |

That's not vignetting I see in your 7mm shot, is it? I assume it's the way the ceiling is that's causing the dark corners.

Nope, it's the ceiling. It's curving all the way to the top with those lights.
Here's a better example for seeing the entire scene, along with the ones I uploaded at the earlier mentioned link. This ones shot wide open at f4, zoomed to 7mm. |

You ought to be in Oly sales Greg.
Thanks for the information! You've sold me on the 7mm Zuiko! Kindest regards. ![]() Greg Chappell wrote: Quote:

Pictures like that really destroy my resistance, Greg. I really want the 7-14; I've shot a few with the 8mm fisheye, but the distortion is a little too harsh for my tastes. The 7-14 seems to be just the ticket to fill out my corral--except for the price! (How can I keep it secret from my significant other??!)
