Default Airbus Beluga XL

The new Beluga XL made its maiden flight to the Airbus factory near Chester yesterday, 14th Feb. Its main purpose is to carry the wings made there to its other factories in Germany and France. Like the existing five Belugas, it's based on the Airbus 320, but has a larger load capacity, as can be seen with the extended "hump".

The flight path, for landing, is very close to where I live and the Belugas are a common sight as I look out of my window. Yesterday, I only used the 50-200 SWD without the EC-20 multiplier, which I probably should have used. However, here are a couple of the shots I took, slightly enhanced by de-hazing in Lightroom. I've also included a shot of a Beluga I posted here a while ago.

Great photos of a most unusual aircraft. Thanks for sharing

Thanks Zig. When It becomes operational, I'll do some more shots, but with the multiplier next time. It could be more difficult to get ready in time for a shot, though, as it's a lot quieter than the current Belugas. I can hear them before I see them because of the reverse thrust they do to slow down. Airbus doesn't release flight times, which vary, presumably according to production requirements.
