I know this isn't an Oly camera but its pretty significant none the less - the Leica Digilux 3. Ok, its a re-skinned L1 but its good to see Leica fully supporting 4/3 with Panasonic. Now it would be really nice if they intro a 14-100 f2.8-3.5 Leica D IS lens as a wee suprise too!

The question is: Is Leica still Leica enough to warrent the kind of money they want for their stuff?

It depends - theres a 15% premium for the Digilux 3 over the L1 which considering its a Leica isn't too bad. For that extra 15% your getting a 2 year warranty, 1GB SD card, Adobe Photoshop Elements and apparently high end camera bag. Usually there's a slight difference in the colour profiles with the Leica version of the cam but you never know they may have decided that they would like to resolve certain issues that have been found with the L1.

Leica's warranties from what I've seen is excellent - guys on the leica forum who have damaged their 20 month old D2's have had them simply replaced with new camera's.

PS.

Just spotted on the Leica site that the Digilux 3 is the basic model in the D series. So does that mean we're going to see a higher spec'd L1/D3 in the near future and if so are we going to be looking at a 10MP + 4/3 cam ?
