Barn Swallow in flight

1 Attachment(s)
Shot last month at the Theler wetlands. Wrong timeof the year to visit them but I wanted to see what they were like. Lots of Barn Swallows so I tried to shoot them. This is the best I could manage. Shot with the E-1 and Sigma at 135mm cropped, doubled and cleaned up with Topaz. Hey, at least I can say I got a BiF shot :)

Wow! Good photo of a difficult shot, John.

Yeh, they don't hang around posing do they.... Nice catch

Thanks guys. I'd really love to be able to catch one with a long lens but I don't see how. This only worked because I had a wide enough view to catch the thing somewhere in the picture.

Good catch John. I don't even try for BIF shots anymore, never had much success with it, and don't have the patience to keep at it. Like my subjects nice and still whenever possible. (Or at least nice and slow.)

I generally agree, but there wasn't anything else to shoot and a trio of these guys were going back and forth over a canal so shooting them was much easier than usual.

Wow! That's one heckuva shot! Almost makes me dizzy. My eyes keep attempting to shift to where the bird WILL be. I, too, have pretty much given up on BIFs. My reactions ain't what they used to be. ;)
