I'm considering the E-300 2-lens kit. I checked pricegrabber and froogle, but I'm not finding the kind of deal I recently heard about. Maybe I missed it?

In any event you'd better hurry, since they're no longer being produced--at least, they aren't carried anymore by the major Japanese retailer here in Tokyo (Yodobashi), which tells me they are on their way out. Only natural, given the popularity of the E-500, which is just a minor upgrade, functionally.

You often find E-300's in the two lens kit format on e-bay. MT |

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have a lot to spend right now, but I want to shoot more telephoto, beyond the range of my 8080. Also considered Nikon D50, Pentax *ist and KM 5D. I'm still tempted by the 5D because there are so many cheap, compatible lenses available and the AS is in the body. But these 2 lens E-300 kits seem like the best bang-for-the-buck deal.

I agree with you that the Oly E-300 two lens kit offers the biggest bang for the buck and it is a great camera as well. Here is a sample E-300 photo taken with the 40-150 lens using a slave flash. MT |

Thanks, MTClimber. I'm sure I've seen that shot in another thread. It's a great photo! Do you shoot in RAW with your digital cams?

That particular photo was taken in .jpeg. I have just begun moving over to raw images. MT |
