Default Black Canyon of the Gunnison

We spent yesterday at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. It's an amazing geological phenomenon. The Gunnison River has carved out a canyon that is twice as deep as it is wide in many places. The canyon is over 48 miles in total length with the National Park encompassing about 14 miles.
The first photo features the Painted Wall area on the right and is the deepest area of the canyon-The Empire State Building is only about half as tall as the canyon rim at this site.
The second photo features an area where the south wall of the canyon has crumbled and eroded much more rapidly than the north walls. The north side stays cooler and is more protected thus has endured longer.
Part of the day was rainy and the low lying clouds sank into the canyon.
The Gunnison River is easily visible in the telephoto shot, it was a LONG way down.
There are many, many interestingly shaped dead trees throughout the park. They are protected and may not be moved or damaged in any way. I liked the look of the last one in black and white.

Impressive Angie good composition. I've never seen a photo of the canyon before so thanks for that.

Good selection on the B&W #4 Absolutely love it.
