12 inches of snow, 4 days without power, wearing most of your warm clothes...in the house, living off a camp stove with no hot water for showers and not being able to get out for 3 days certainly makes you appreciate simple things in life....Like....er....electricity...!!!
It's always a feeling of fun living by oil lamp for one night but 4 is a drag. I did get time for some photos, the 'lump' in front of this one is my pickup! I'l put some up on photobucket later. |

Beautiful shot, but I'm sure gladit fell where it did! That's more snow than I've seen in my lifetime, total. I'm glad to see you came out of it fine. I wouldn't have fared so well.

Yikes, I had forgotten what snow looks like, after living in central London (UK) and now Spain.
However much I dislike cold weather, I have to admit it looks great on your photo! |

Cold weather is fine if you choose to visit a ski area, this was a bit of an unwelcome surprise, we still had a bit of fun in it though.

so tell me, how do you transition your lens and camera into the cold..i'd be too concerned with fogging a lens, or worse yet, getting moisture in it and then fungus

I've just never had that problem and I've taken lots of shots in snow. I used to live at nearly 8,000 feet in Utah as well. Perhaps this time it's because the house was pretty cool inside, with out the power we only had a small gas fire heating it all.
Here's the view from the deck they morning after the storm. |
