The Olympus E-1 14-54 mm lens is available at B&H, but its not liked as an accessory ????. Have to enter the product code OL145428ED in the search box to get it to come up. I've got the money in my hot little hand but I can't bring myself to plunk it down until I see Steve's review. A package price would help too......

The image below was made with a Minolta Dimage 7i. The tree was (maybe) 1.5 - 2 feet behind the model. I was 15ft away so I was using at a minimum of f3.5. If anyone thinks that a fixed lens digi-cam has horrible DOF is nuts...(& I have images from a 2.1mp Olympus to dispell this too). All images were done in-camera too.....

Yeah, I have some pretty good defocused shots on my Olympus C-730 as well. I think the point being made is that traditonal SLR offers more control over DOF, which I concede. I think it just depends on what's imporatnt to you and the type of photos you like to take. Pretty girl by the way. THX.
P.S. - Mike THX for the DOF link, very helpful. |

For what its worth..... I was at the Olympus booth at Photo+ and asked about the lack of built-in flash. I was advised that they polled professionals and "they" thought that it was more professional without it. More importantly there was a hint that there will be a "consumer" version of the 3/4 design in the near future. Personally I have been looking hard at the big three (Nikon,Canon,Olympus) I have owned non SLRs by all three; my money will probably go to Canon.

I guess when you spend that much for that much camera, an internal flash is a joke, and you'd never use it...not to mention the red eye issue.
