Default E-420 No Image Stabilization

Okay I can get an E-420 plus a 14-42mm lens for $300. But I read it dosent have image stabilization, is this going to be a problem? Am I better off looking for a used Rebel XT? Or maybe even a Canon S90?

it really depends, if you are shooting in good lighting, it is not a problem. Or if you shoot with short focal length lenses also. With long lenses then IS comes in handy.

You should move your question to the Olympus DSLR forum here. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks who can give to you the pros and cons. The E-420 is a nice small camera, with several virtues.

Stablizing in cameras is a relatively new concept. People got by and did well without it for a long time. Depends on your genre of photography. It does has real pros and sometimes I wish I had it on my E500.
But make you mind up for yourself take a look at some of the photos in the Oly DSLR boards.
