Hi,
Just a very quick question: does the E300 or E500 have a mirror lock up function? I haven't seen this mentioned in any of the reviews. Thanks for any help, Edward Gladwin |

Not sure if it has a permanent lockup function. It wouldn't be very necessary anyway, since the sensor doesn't require cleaning like other dSLRs. |

To continue the above reply, it's known as "Anti Shock" and it's located near the bottom of shooting menu 2 (at least on the E-300).

The mirror lock (Anti Shock) on the E-300 doesn't actually open the shutter...what happens when you have the Anti Shock turned on, say for three seconds, when you press the shutter release the mirror swings and locks up for the time you set, three seconds in this case...then after three seconds ONLY THEN does the shutter open up and the camera takes the picture...the rest functions as normally. And for the record, I do know of one E-1 user who had to manually clean their sensor, but it was sticky pollen and not dust on the sensor. |
