Heron on the hunt.

Recently spotted a GB heron who was out looking for his lunch. I had some patience and some time, so I waited for him to catch a fish. But obviously I had found a camera-shy bird. He went out of sight into the tall grasses at the edge of the water to catch his fish, so I missed it. Then when the bird did come out of the grass with a fish, he kept his back turned to me until he finished his lunch. I guess he figured he wasn't getting paid and he didn't sign a model release, so there would be no cooperation with the photographer.

E-3, 50-200mm at full 200; f6.3; ISO 800; As usual no PP.

Making sure that the guy holding the camera does not get a good shot:

Okay, now that the fish is no longer visible he decides to turn around

Steven, very good shots and he is quite a bit less camera shy than the ones around here. I'm lucky to get within 200 feet of them and they are off. Nice shots although I doubt the fish enjoyed it : )

Good job especially the first one. It's not easy to nail the exposure on a back-lit subject.
