hybrid, imager, afsensor
 
does using different af system affect the picture? or its just marketing terms? do i have to use a certain af system for a certain situation.

i really dont have an idea.

dSLRs use phase detection AF because it's faster, and because the shutter is normally closed so the imager can't see the picture (until you click the shutter release).

Now with live view dSLRs the sensor is opened, and the mirrors which would normally direct the image to the phase detect AF sensor are flipped out of the way (so that the imager isn't blocked), so contrast detection is used.

Cameras like the Panasonic G1 and the Oly E-P1 don't have mirrors and the imager is almost always open so only contrast detect focusing can be used.
