Default A new E-5

I heard back from Olympus service today. The E-5 cannot be repaired after its fall. The only solution is a full replacement.

This turned out to be an expensive accident, but its not all bad. There would always have been thoughts in the back of my mind that the camera would have been compromised in ways the repair wouldn't have anticipated. Will the shutter seen its full life? Would the stabilization fail shortly after the warranty period? Would the weather resistance be the same? To be truthfull, I think I would have sold it anyway.

The new camera is very heavily discounted in price. I appreciate Olympus is doing that and and they were very empathetic about my situation. They threw in the extended service contract to boot.

A week to ten days and I'll be back to playing with the new toy. I'm anxious to putting the whole thing behind me. I guess I get an extra battery, charger, manual.... I'll be all set.... I'll be more careful.

All in all, that is excellent news, Greg. Oly service seems to do right by you, and I know the whole forum is glad for you.

I second the above comments - a good outcome to an accident that had to feel like a punch in the stomach.

Sounds like you came to a pretty good resolution considering the circumstances.. E5 take 2!
