I popped into London Zoo today as a wee treat for myself and as I havent had the funds to purchase the 50mm f2 macro I made do with the 14-54 for a few close up shots. Not exactly macro but better than my FZ10's macro mode. Now the 35mm macro is around £135 and I was wondering whether to look into that but I was also thinkign of may be picking up a Nikon 6T or Hoya closeup filters as a stop gap.

I think for a non macro lens the 14-54 does very well. Here;s the shot:

I did make a mistake by leaving the E1 at ISO400 and not stopping down enough but all things considered I think it came out ok. So if your looking for a new lens that'll be good enough for the occasional close up I think the 14-54 is it.

nice shot Harj, yeah i love my 14-54 for close shots, the DOF is a bit more forgiving than the 50mm that's for sure..it's a very good lens and usually the one i have on the camera:cool:

Thanks Edge & Donna.

I've got no idea what the butterfly type is as I was being buzzed constantly by all types and sizes.
