On a recent trip to Busch Gardens a patient owl posed for a few shots.

Nicely done. That 50-200mm lens continues to impress. About the only regret I have in converting to Nikon is in selling mine a few years ago. Especially, now that I bought the EM-1 for travelling.

Thank you, Zig. I agree about the 50-200; even with a teleconverter it still provides outstanding images, even on my years old E-3.

....I still have mine from late 2005; would not sell, trade or give!
Nicely done images Steven.

Beautiful shots as usual, Steve. I suspect that you have very good light conditions in Florida. I agree with the plaudits the 50-200 SWD is getting - a fantastic lens.
Here's a shot (cropped) of some Waxwings I took locally last week. I had to adjust it (in Lightroom) for heavy shadows caused by the low Winter sun. It was taken hand-held with the 50-200 SWD, wide open (f3.5), 1/2000 at ISO 200 and maximum zoom. Waxwings are occasional Winter visitors to the UK from Scandinavia, usually when Scandinavian winters are severe. I would have liked to take a few more shots (a bit closer), but they all flew off shortly after they arrived.

Good catch on the waxwings; they are hard to photograph as they seem to be constantly moving. So wide open and at maximum zoom is probably the norm for that situation. You handled it well.

Thanks Steven. I was fortunate to get such a fast shutter speed at ISO 200, as I'm sure the camera wasn't very still.
I don't use this lens as often as I should, possibly because of its weight, and as I take more landscape and larger subject shots, I tend to use the 12-60 SWD, another highly impressive lens. Shots like yours, Steven, are encouraging me to do more with the bigger lens. Keep it up.
