On the road with the E-30

Just got back from a trip to Barnegat Light, New Jersey. The town is located on a barrier island known as Long Beach Island with Barnegat Light being on the northern tip of the island.

Here are a few random images taken while there for my wife's college reunion.

Zig, I am impressed! Great-looking images. I also like the way you treated some of the file edges in presenting them here.

Thank you

Hi Guys,

Thank you all for your kind comments.

I tend to gravitate towards taking shots at early light and late evening light as those times offer the most opportunites in capturing something of interest to me. The good news for me is that I like to get up early in the morning so getting out before sunrise is pretty easy.

Greg, I have you to thank for your posting of images taken with the E-620 set to pop art filter mode. While I've tried it on a variety of different subjects and find it too intense for flowers and people images, I rather like the affect on many landscape shots. I do have to use the saturation slider in Photoshop to tame the intensity but that's a quick and painless PP task.

The edge treatment is nothing more than feathering in Photoshop.
I make note cards to give to my friends and others who ask for them. I find feathering the edges just sort of completes the effect I'm after.

Also, I have started to take a fair amount of portrait shots using the soft focus filter found on the E-30. It is especially effective when taking images of woman of my generation who are especially sensitive of wrinkles. They object to having their photo taken, complaining that they never come out looking good. Then I show them the results and they smile. Sometimes having too sharp an image isn't a good thing;)..

.......excellent Zig! I am liking those filters more each time I see them used.
