Thirty years ago when we lived in Oregon "There was this beach" a magic place to have a quiet time to see two rock arches like a cathederal soar over you head. A place so secret that you'd only tell your best friend.
Just for fun before we left Sharon googled Secret Beach, Brookings. Oregon and found that it now has it's own freeking web page. Aw man. What a difference 30years can make. We went down anyway, it's not easy it's a really steep trail down....and then up for about 3/4 mile EW. Then this nice big smooth black basalt rock to get down to the beach from. It was worth it once again. To see the arches you need a -2 ft low tide and that wasn't to be today but we did have the beach to ourselves to re-explore and to photograph. The fog never did clear and the sun stayed hidden. Exposure times ran from 1/125 down to 1/8 and hand held. I did manage to get lucky with a few shots though. And here we go down the rocks......

Looks like a magical place, Ken. Thanks for showing us these.
The same is true of Shoshone Point on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The Park Service doesn't put it on maps because it can be very dangerous for those tourists lacking common sense. It used to be spread only by word of mouth but now it's easy to find on the Web. You can walk out to the tip of the Point where you're hundreds of feet in the air surrounded by absolutely no ground, and feel like you're floating. Spectacular.

Thanks again for the comments guys. These are some shots in places that I could really do with hauling the tripod along.
Mental note, take tripod. Trying shots at 1/8 isn't prudent. Then trying to blame the camera for not having enough ISO or a lens for being too slow. Then wondering where the grain came from.....hmmm!

That looks like one amazing place, you defentnatly need to go back with tripod at sunset or sunrise and get some beautiful colours.

Thanks Bri we plan on it. At least on a day when the sun shows itself.

Thank Lordje.
I've never done any wedding photography (and too smart to do it for family ![]() I can't see why you would need more than the one lens though....but as I say..! I'm sure you'll do a great job though. Take a look at some wedding porfolios on line for ideas.
