I love the features and ease of use of the E500, but am considering a Nikon D50 as well. I mainlyplan to take pictures of my daughter and maybe some casual macro work in the future. I keep readingthat the D50 renders fantastic skin tones and the E500 gives more pinkish tones. What has been your experience? I need great pix 'out of the camera' as I'm way busy with my 2 year old.

Thanks guys.

PS - I really want the convince me!

Hi, I just got my E-500 this spring. I have used it to take pics of my family members and for my taste find the skin tones realistic. I have no experience with the nikon, and am really new to this but I know what I like and I like the olympus skin tones. The only problem I have had is the noise issue in the shadows at higher ISO. When I have taken pics/closeups indoors, I use the tripod and nix the flash and use a slower shutter. I will select a portrait type pic and send it. Remember, I am no pro, this is a hobby for me. Hi, here is one picture I took of my niece, pretty much as it came from the camera. If I did anything it was basic photoshop. Hope this helps. Donna

Thank you Donna. This is a very nice shot of your niece and you're right...the skin tone does look very natural.

I think also the WB needs to be set up right, as auto WB does tend to produce a reddish hue on skin tones.

I removed the blue from the picture because I like the warmer skin tone. The orginal was a bit cooler. donna
