Drove to the beach today some 30 kms from my place. Not as sharp as I had hoped the images would be.

Taken with 14 - 42 at 42mm, ISO 200, f/7.1, 1/800

..........I've done something here that I've never done before, redo someone else's photo and I hope you will not be offended.

So, here goes.... I think the first picture is made much better with a crop that does not include the sun flare and rids away much of the actual photo. I could not explain, thus the example.

Thank you for sharing and keep clicking that shutter.

My crop would be this

Thanks Bob. This was my first excursion into sunset photography and come to think of it, I seriously lacked imagination. The crop looks much better. Somehow it has always been fitted into my system that to shoot a sunset, the sun has to be part of the picture but guess it doesn't necessarily have to be.

......with the original picture the flare of the sun detracts more than it contributes. In the second picture the sun contributes a great deal to the photo.

Again, just another opinion and everyone of us will have one. In the end our photographs must satisfy ourselves first, then others.

btw, where is this beach?

I agree with your point of view.

I live in Karachi, Pakistan. We have so many beaches in Karachi but this one is quite accessible. Other beaches are however are more scenic but they are within navy jurisdiction and more like picnic spots. This one is good for an early morning or late evening stroll.

......I once lived in Southern Callifornia (Orange county) 1 mile from the beach (Huntington) but people, people and more people.

Yours is a beautiful place, enjoy and remember to photograph it.

I was lucky there wasnt much crowd today. Usually the beach is packed with people specially on a weekend. Glad you find the place beautiful.

Hi Zee-

Looks like a beautiful beach. I like two people standing there. Very cinematic effect.

Hi there, Zeshane-

Thanks posting these two photos. Thanks also to BoBB. I really like his crop a lot.
Your last photo is my favorite. Nicely done.
