Sunset at Shawme Lake

Sometimes it's good to act upon your own instincts.

Was working in the office this late afternoon and looked out the window to see a beautiful sky starting to come together. Grabbed the Olympus+12-60mmSWD, hopped in the car and drove to Shawme Lake.

Wasn't disappointed:

Wow Zig. Those are impressive landscapes. hard to pick a favorite, but on a coin toss I'm going with #3. Well done.:)

Geez, man.

2, 1 and 3, in that order, or more like 1a, 1b and 1c. All three are spectacular.

Hi Zig,

What a fantastic set of pictures, I can't decide which one is my favorite. The HDR processing is balanced and very well done.

I like the way you framed the 3rd picture with the branches on top of it.

Love the colors and composition... thank you for sharing.

Hi Steven, Greg, Marcelo,

Thnx guys. I have a lot of fun using Photomatix to produce HDR images. But You can do quite a lot with just the sliders in Adobe Camera RAW. Here is an example of one:

There are times when I prefer one over the other. But , I do like the results when just running it thru a quick edit in RAW. The problem for me with this image was the blown highlight. Using HDR corrected for that.

The framing, reflections, and random log jutting out make #1 my favorite - great photos!

Very nice Zig, a one and a three picked so I'll say I like number two the best : ) Excellent photos

Thank you all so much for taking the time to comment and provide positive reinforcement. It's very much appreciated.:)

Glad to see my Olympus E-30 hasn't suddenly self-destructed now that the E-M5
has been released.;)

You KNOW you have some great shots when everyone picks a different one as "the best"! I always love sunsets, and these are really special. My personal favorite is number 2--I love the pristine reflections of the group of trees on the right side of the pictures. The colors are perfect too. Isn't nature wonderful.
