I grow Penta every year to lure butterflies. The largest butterfly to stop by, that I've seen, was a swallowtail that measured approx 4 inches wing tip-to-tip, that was 5 years ago. We usually have quite a lot of migrating Monarchs sample the flowers too, but this year butterflies were quite scarce in our Penta patch.

What was prevalent all summer were bees. This fellow was interesting to me because of the size of the 'pollen basket'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollen_basket

I've never made a picture of a scittering critter that's not been OOF; this is about my norm though I keep trying.

That's pretty good Bob, better than my efforts at critter pichers. I like it.

Dlpin, join the club. the 70-300 is getting to be the OLYDSLR official lens...:-)
You will enjoy it. Post some shots when you get it rev'd up.
