I'm looking for a lens to be used on the Olympus Evolt E-300 that will perform well in low-light using both the built-in flash and the Olympus FL-36 external flash. This will be for people pics in dim-lit settings. I'm looking for accurate skin tones, good detail, accurate colors, etc...
Is the Zuiko 14-45mm F3.5-5.6 good enough or should I consider the Zuiko 14-54mm F2.8-3.5? |

I have not seen any pricing/availabilityfor this lens yet. |

Jim, I figured I would sell off the whole family in the hopes of having enough $$$ to purchase not only the 14-35mm F2 but also the 35-100mm F2 and 90-250mm F2.8. We can all wish as these lenses just seem a little on the make-belief side of things. As for prices... well only roomers is what I have heard thus far.... something like the following: 14-35mm $1200-1500usd ish, 35-100mm $1600-2000usd ish, 90-250mm $4000+ usd ish. If you have the money and decided not to take advantange of the excellent 2 lens kit deal going on with the e-300 I would recommend getting the 14-54 over the still excellent 14-45mm lens. The main reason being that its faster and is built a little better (fully sealed). Although I don't have any hands on experience with the 14-45mm lens I do own the 14-54mm for my E-1 and love it dearly. After buying lesser digital products while trying to save a buck or two one thing that i've learned over the years is I usually end up regreting not paying more initially for the better product. ![]() On a side not, it sure seems either Oly isn't producing alot of lenses/they are selling really well, or no one wishes to carry them in stock.I recently (lastFriday) ordered myself some new gear for my camera now that I finally paid off the camera and gear I purchased originally and all of it isn't instock: ITEM NAME: Olympus - 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 ZUIKO E Lens for E1 ITEM QUANTITY: 1 Backordered from supplier due on 6/6/2005 ITEM NAME: Olympus - EX25 Macro Extension Tube 2:1 for E1 ITEM QUANTITY: 1 Backordered from supplier due on 6/16/2005 ITEM NAME: Olympus Pro Studio Capture Software 1.2 for E1 ITEM QUANTITY: 1 Backordered from supplier due on 6/6/2005 Well at least i'll get my 72mm Hoya filter right away as that and a 72mm lens cap was all that was instock. |

I don't own one of the Oly models. But, they have been on my radar. So, I've been looking at a lot of lenses lately to try and narrow down my choices in a smaller DSLR brand/model. |
