I came across this article on Luminous Landscapes and immediately thought of the BIF's and wildlife shooters. This monster or as its known the Sigmonster is shown below and from the looks of it needs a sherpa or two to be carried around:

"The Sigmonster" is an 300-800 f5.6 lens and the lens below is a Canon 400 f4 L which looks just itsy-bitsy compared to that monster. I'm assuming its designed for a full sensor and as Sigma have stated that all of tehir lenses will be available in 4/3's that would give us a 600-1200mm optical zoom (not that I would ever been seen with either of those two lenses above!)

You can read the full review here:

Hi Edge

You know looking at the size of that thing I think it should! I can't imagine anyone having to carry that around and then also a huge tripiod just to use it.

You attach the lens to the tripod, and then attach the body. :-)

Shouldn't that be 600-1600mm Optical Zoom for 4/3

It's still a 300-800mm lens, even on 4/3. It happens to give a similar field of view as a 600-1600mm lens would give on a 35mm film or FF camera.

When used on an APS-sensor camera, it gives the field of view that a 400-1067mm would on a 35mm for FF camera.

But, when comparing it to Oly's DZ lenses, at 300mm, it would be the same field of view as Oly's 300mm lens, and provide 2.67 X additional zoom ratio frome there.

Read the quote, someone above mistakenly said it was 600-1200 instead of 600-1800.
