As a former C-series user I was confused at first about auto-ISO myself...on the C-series it DID adjust automatically. This issue was first raised by E-1 users, and even in the E-330 manual they still haven't addressed the function of auto-ISO.

Interesting to note though that the Olympus Digital Shool says the following regarding the "Evolt E-500 Basic Startup":

Quote:
The shipping default ISO setting in the EVOLT E-500 is set to -A- (Auto), which will allow the camera to make an interpreted setting, depending on the availability of light, from ISO 100 to 400.
They don't know what's going on themselves! Now this isn't Olympus...they are depending on what Olympus has told them in the manual, and previous photographic experience.

This is something the Olympus SHOULD fix in a firmware upgrade for ALL bodies, so it works the way the user expects it to.
