Interesting point that.

Only one of all the available AF points is used for a shot. So it shouldn't matter
wether you have 11,9,7 or just 3.

Did u face a problem with not having more than 3 AF points when taking a
group photo ?

Sure I would...although I would consider the scene and maybe focus on the person who's the centre distance (not the closest and not the furthest), so if that person is on the left I'd point the lens at them and half-hold the shutter release, reframe the shot and then tap the AEL button to set exposure, and fire.

For me this is easier than having the camera choose a random point (maybe a tree off in the distance), or deciding which focus point to use.
