Looks like you're getting good use from your new equipment. Nice shots. I'm interested in getting the same. What is your overall impression of the E-500? Have youused the TIFF file format? How about ease of use, low light shooting and Olympus customer service? What did you use before? I am coming from Canon P&S, but need something more professional for editors.

Thanks

Hi 2bitwriter,

I'm a hobbyist, this new E-500 is my first SLR or DSLR, I like it very much.
Tried save as TIFF but size was larger then RAW, I preferred RAW because it's "RAW" or "ORIGINAL" while TIFF are not. My norm. is adobeRGB.
Handling not my top priority, I buy camera for taking Photo, not to play with it in my hands. so ease of use ? YES, only after a lot of practice. ;-)
My E-500 kit set (2 lens) and my add-on 35mm macro are only f3.5, so I use them during daytime, yet to try out night shots. I plan to shoot the colourful lighting display before Christmas season end, care to join me?
I've no idea abt Olympus service, I owns 2 Oly P&S (6yrs old) they're in good health.
Today I have total 4 cameras :- Minolta P&S film camera.(long long year ago).
Oly C2000Z digicam then Oly C2100UZI digicam and recently Oly E-500 DSLR.
BTW that incredible Oly C2100UZI served me more then 30000 shots including family holiday in Australia. I've many pic taken by C2100UZI putup on my webpage and intended to replaced them once I get a collection from E-500.
For yours professional task, I suggest a DSLR. just my 2cents.

Hello Leong TX :

Wow! I like your photos! I have the E-500 with the kit lenses, and I am not able to get anywhere NEAR the quality (sharply focused) pics you've been getting.

This is NOT my 1st digital camera (or DSLR). I know some of the details of the photography f/stops, shutter speeds, ISO etc.

I hope that both of the lenses I got with this E-500 aren't "junk". Sigh.. I bought the camera with the 2 kit lenses off eBay used.

Do you have more pics (online) at a website where I can go look at them?

The kit lenses I refer to are:
(the 14-45mm Zuiko f/3.5-5.6) and (the 40-
150 mm Zuiko f/3.5-4.5) .

Thanks for your time...

EVERYONE..... Have a Blessed Merry Christmas...
and Happy New Year 2007...

Blessings,
ELS

Sorry everyone for the apparent "double-posting".

I didn't see it (post the 1st time).
