I purchased a Sigma 18-125 a week or two ago. I thought if it was a decent lens that I'd get rid of the two kit lenses and use the money I had left to get an older long tele lens. I rarely "need" the lowest end of the wide angle and I rarely "need" the long end of the 40-150 that came with it.

I set up a couple of items and took some pictures. I know these tests aren't scientific, but based on what I've done, it looks like the sigma is sharper than the kit lenses. I took the pictures at about 7 feet away. Hope this may help someone when making the decision on whether to get the sigma. I've read reviews about it not being so sharp, but when I found one for $150, I couldn't pass it up. I figured if it was bad, I'd sell it on ebay. Turns out, I'll probably be selling my two kit lenses instead.

All photos were shot F8,1/160 second with vivitar 285 flash pointed up with a diffuser I made. I'll try to post pictures of the diffuser later.

Looks like Olympus shot A and Sigma Shot A have focused on different areas of the scene. I would be interested in more comparisons though, as I am considering an E-330 with both kit lenses myself.
