Hi Guys

Just want some advise on how to use the FL50 in manual mode - I've read the manual and well came away thinking theres got to be a more easier way to do it.

Cheers

I usually avoid referring to competiting forums, but this message in another forum covers your question step-by-step:

Whether or not is an easier way, it's the manual way...the easier way would be TTL! :|

Mike, Sat

Thanks for the links _ I'll let you know how I get on. Bye the way I've managed to get a wireless flash setup for $40.00 - $30 for a wireless transciever + 2 recievers from e-bay and a hotshoe/PC for the FL50. It works pretty well just need to know how to use the flashes together in manual mode :O :?

Cheers

Ha. I probably got the same wireless trigger as you. You can see my review

HERE.

The real trick to using manual mode with multiple flashes is having a flash meter that allows yo

u to measure how much light is being put out by each one. Merely setting the power output with the dial on the rear of the FL-50 will get you a close combination if you know how to use Guide Numbers, but a flash meter is really ideal:

I would also recommend taking a look at the Strobist site about this item since there's a thread about modifying the trigger with a longer antenna.

One is an original Gary Fong Lightsphere, and the other is a "clone" I made myself from a couple of 100 yen tupperware-like containers. It looks like this:

They work well for their intended purposes, but still put out too much point-source light that glare is created in shiny objects like the tomatoes. I really need some softboxes.
