I took these shots at a local fireworks display last week, 18-180mm lens, manual mode, aperture at f11, shutter speeds varied between 4 and 8 seconds depending on how much was going on (longer exposures when there were lots of flashes just produced lots ofwhite, no real color saturation). I touched these up a bit in PS, mainly just upped contrast and saturation a little.

Sweet shots. I tried some with my e500 using the fireworks setting but forgot my remote control and the ability to use the 2-second delay
