Well I finally got the opportunityand sunlight to spend some time with the E3.

I really love that camera! The things that OCD said about it above, you can take to the bank.

I went to my one of my favorite winter locations for photography - the U.S. Botanical Garden in Washington, DC. Unfortunately, I forgot that to shoot close-ups of flowers you need to understand how to control the E3's autofocus system and I didn't even bring the manual, since I was planning to just play withthe camera rather than trying to do artistic imaging. The E3 did OK with focusing but flowers under low illumination with a lot of (relatively speaking) depth from front to rear was a challenge. Next time I'll know better on how to tell the camera to choose the focus spot.

Nevertheless, I'm posting images. This first set is a series of the same area of a cactus, underincreasing ISOs: 200, 400, 800, 1000, and 1600. Everything else in the camera is plain vanilla auto-control (auto-WB, Aperture-priority exposure, etc.). As OCD says, left on its own the E3 is a great P&S.To my eye800 is fine, 1000 OK if necessary, and 1600 is noisy. ISO200:

I've never used a camera that is so accurate on exposure:

Again, the exposure out of the box amazes me for the lighting conditions in that conservatory:
