Hi Harj,

At first, I was not sure about spending the money on it. I thought Iwould saveto buy the 50-200mm. Then, after seeing some pics taken with it and considering that 200mm just would not cut for me (and I'd have to spend another $300 or so on the EC-14 to increase the FL), I decided to go ahead and buy it. The bottom line? I do not regret a single bit. This lens has great optics and I've been able to get sharp images shooting @ 600mm handheld at 1/80.

Here's a shot of a ducktaken after the sunset - @ 300mm, ISO 400.

awesome, there was a great response to this topic. and it helped me in my decision. i just sold my SONY H9, and just bought my first DSLR. i bought the Olympus E-510 and was debating on the 70-300mm lens. then i found this thread since i already know this forum (but had to register again, for some reason i couldnt login to my maple_gunman account no more) I ordered the camera with one lens kit, 70-300mm and some other accessorys. i should be getting it in the mail tomorrow. so expect to see some examples up by the end of the week. thanks for everyones input and topic starter.

-thanks

Versailles, congratulations on your new acquisition. Keep in mind that there is a learning curve with the E510, specially coming from a P&S. As a suggestion, I'd seriously consider reading and following Mr. Wrotniak'ssuggestions and advices as to how the E510 should be customized. Here's a link to one of his docs. It's my E510 Bible!

Wait for a nice, bright sunny day. That's when you can really tell how much saturation, contrast and sharpness fit your personal taste best.

Hi all,

Well, I finally pulled the trigger and got a 70-300mm Digital Zuiko lens. Haven't had too much of an opportunity to try this out as the weather hasn't been cooperating much. I went down to the harbor yesterday morning and did manage to get this shot:

Can't wait for the Sun to come out.

Hi Harj,

Thanks a lot. You know, that this was a much tougher photo to take as this bird was alive - unlike yours.:lol::lol:.

Only kidding,a lame attempt at humor.

regards,

zig
