I've not been doing much pic taking lately but today i had the E3 with me at work, and Spitafield's Market has had an food festival going on - lots of fresh fab organic food stalls, cakes, drinks and live farm animals that you can touch and be real close too. Heading back to the office I spotted this weird looking object on one stool and realised it was oysters and then next too it was something else - took me a good few seconds to see that it was rabbits and pigeons ready to be cooked. Food for some.. definitely not to me...

E3 + 14-54ZD - ISO 800 (looks very good at 800 as I'd nailed the exposure)

Cheers

Hi Harj,

That's quite a photo! image quality is great the subject matter... well? that's something else again.

Reminds me of the time when my sister and I were about 9 and 12 respectively. It was Easter time and our dad took us to the meat market in the North End of Boston. This was where all the immigrants from Europe went for their holiday meat. My dad was very fond of rabbit as were we. But we didn't know that we got to choose a live rabbit and the butcher would prepare it meaning killing it, bleeding it and then skinning it before our own eyes:shock:.

Needles to say my sister and I didn't eat rabbit that Easter.

regards,

Zig

I'm working this mornign and walked through the market and theres another set of rabbits and pigeons.. When I looked at the RAW file in Pshop - its was the pigeons eye that kinda spooked me. Disturbing definitely.

I'm going to have anoter wonder down their later and see what else is cooking.

Cheers

Hi Mkie

Nice to haev a wee bit of humour on the forum! I did get someone post a comment on my smugmug site telling me that I shouldn;t have posted the pic for various reasons - being from a hunting community etc. That really suprised me as I took the shot for recording that wee moment and I thought it was something unique. Not becuase I'm a veggie with attitude !!

:O :? :G

Cheers

Harj

I'm not one myself, but I can see pictures like these used in a PSA (Public Service Announcement)...the scene opens up with pictures like yours being panned over the various dead animals and other wild animals (tiger's etc.) that have been shot and you can hear gunshots in the background, then that scene fades out and you see those same wild animals on video, running around and the sound of a camera, and each time the picture is frozen...at the end is the caption, "Hunt with cameras, not guns."
