For those looking for a grip for the EXX's take a look at these:

http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/showthread.php?t=37982

Looks pretty interesting esp as Oly;d not introduced their own version for the 5XX series.

Cheers

I was just going to post this but Harj (as usual) beat me to it. Looks good.

I imagine it'spriced reasonably, because it's wasn't put out by Oly.... :roll:

Shame it won't work with my 500, no shutter release hook up.... Buggers!

Thanks for pointing that out gwillys. I missed it first time around. I'd really like to see how they do it though and get a report from someone with the 500.

If they have a way to work the shutter release (It has to be mechanical) and locking it down for extended periods. (I believe 8 minutes is max) Then I could probably use it.

For the E-500 it seems to use the IR on the Camera for the shutter release.
Read Installation step 5 below.

http://www.gadgetinfinity.com/produc...283&page=1

Installation is simple.

1. Make sure that the camera is OFF before installation.
2. Take out the batteries inside the battery compartment of the camera and then close the compartment;
3. Install the battery holders that filled with batteries into the grip and lock it safely;
4. Lock the grip on the camera by tightening the screw to the right;
5. Take away the plastic wrap on the Acrylic Reflexion plate and stick it on the IR receiver of the camera.

This battery grip can emit IR signal. When you press the shutter of the grip, the IR signal will be transmitted to the camera's IR receiver by vertical reflexion via the Acrylic Reflexion plate of the grip. So you have to make sure that the IR mode of the E-500 is swtiched on. Half-press auto-focus is NOT available on the grip.
