As the subject states, what was $300 here is now $99. The price drop in town (Calgary Alberta) is ubiquitous so I assume it's a N.A. wide Olympus Sale. Anyway, not having anything in this focal length and complaining about it recently, I think I'll pick this one up.

Hi,

Pricing, in the States does not appear to be affectedby any special discounts.I've checked all the normal discount outlets and the 40-150mm Olympus continues to be sold at between $240-270US

Sounds likeyou have an opportunityto get a good lens for an outstanding price.

Regards,

Zig

What the poster DOESN'T say is you have to buy an E-510 with 14-42mm to get that price...on this page for the $99.95 40-150mm click on the "$100 Total Rebates Available More Info" link at:
http://vistek.ca/store/CameraLenses/...zoom-lens.aspx

..........at about 1430 hrs CDT/US today I was looking at one in the 'lens case' at our local Fry's store. It was priced 99.99$

The online ad shows to be sold out but there may be one laying in a store somewhere near you.

Two weeks ago Fry's had the E-510 $399 (no rebate) with stock 14-42mm lens. That was an awesome deal.

Hi Mike,

Alternately you can go to these addresses that have no stipulations with regards to the price, (cut and paste folks):

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX19410(ME).aspx

I just confirmed with the Camera Store (link above) that they are selling the lens, stand - alone for $97. None in stock yet, but they are expecting it in soon.

Good advice Pete, I don't feel comfortable purchasing anything on the 'net.

The Camera Store is bricks and mortar retail outlet with a solid reptutation around town, as is memory express. The salesperson mentioned that he had heard of the rebate program (as mike pointed out above through vistek) and double checked to confirm that the stand alone price advertised on the internet was correct. Once confirmed, he took my name and phone number only and won't require payment until the lens comes in, and I pick it up in person. (It's my go-to camera place and I've bought a couple of lenses there along with an e510 body in the past).

That being said I don't personally purchase over the internet, and can't vouch for the service of any online (or semi-online) outlet, let alone the two mentioned above. The links were provided as information only, and were in no way meant to be an endorsement.
