Did a camping trip to Oregon's Metolious River area last week. I have a lot of photos to share but I just wanted to show another example of what the 70-300 can do. Just stuff that I couldn't have done before.

I probably would have done better if I'd have taken the tripod but I was on a short 6 mile hike and it's a heavy piece of work.

Thanks Bob.

Ypu guys have probably seen this but I've just read the article on the long lenses. Seems pretty unanimous that it's a great lens for the price but not to compare it to the top end lenses.

Hey Ken,

That's a really nice image.. I like the way the background is out of focus as well as the tone. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more shots from your trip.

Also, thanks for posting the link o the FourThirds magazine-issue01. I got it a few months ago and forgotabout it. Your post prompted me tolook atit- Definitely a good read.

I use pricegrabber.com for price checking when I shop online.

Here http://cameras.pricegrabber.com/slr-...ympus%2070-300

I find that my favorite online stores and where I have bought all my lenses, either BuyDig or Beach (same retail family of stores) still have the best pricing for the 70-300.

Nice detail, and as already mentioned, love the limited depth of field you get with this lens up close.

Post a link so we can see some morebeautiful stuff up your way.

And you're right, it is the lens. That was one of those point and shoot shots while we were on a hike. The dark (out of focus) background was my wife's black woolly glove.

I do keep saying that I'll be posting a link of photos from closer to home but I've been procrastinating...sort of. We're scrambling with a real estate biz and have just had a couple of personel set backs...(Excuses..:-)) But I will get my act together this weekend and post something.

Thanks
