I don't see any signs of Spring here!!!!

Although, I must admit, the birds have been a bit more active these last few days:

..............the scenery is much prettier in that presentation than it is here except as shown in another thread, at the arboretum in Dallas.

As for the birds it seems you may have been just as busy............ of the three the jay is my favorite here although I surely would be happy to have made any of those bird photos.

Good work there Zig.

Which lens for these?

You are really getting some excellent bird shots Zig! That feeder was a great idea.

Hi Guys,

Bob,

I'm using the E-510 with the 50-200 ED (old version lens). Since most of the activity around the feeder isbetween 6:30 am and 8:00am I don't think I'd be able to take anywhere as many shots if it weren't for the 50-200. This lens is so much faster to focus and at 2.8, can do things the 70-300 just can't.

Greg,

Yes, the feeder certainly has given me a lot more opps to use the camera and 50-200 lens. Besides having fun, I've learned a lot andfrankly have been pleasantly surprised as to how good the images come out at the ISO800 setting.

Now if only Spring would show up around here.............

Zig,
............that is pretty much my way of using the two lenses. Bright light I really like using the 70-300 but with most any daylight the 50-200 is good while in bright light it can be fantastic.

I hope Spring weather is there soon for you, today here is just short of cold at 48 degrees right now.

Hi Bob,

To your point, last year I took my camera along with me to a Red Sox ballgame with the 70-300 mounted to it. it was a woderful day- not a cloud in the sky. I got some pretty shot results with it that day.

This year, I'm going to try and sneak in the 50-200. I can't wait.

zig: I know you will be ready for spring. In the meantime, your bird shots are just super. I really like the first bird shot. It could easily be inside a bird magazine.

Hi Zig: Just so you don't forget what Spring looks like, let me share one of my "bird" shots.
