Wow....was just over at B&H and noticed a lot of new, steep prices for Zuiko lenses. the 12-60 I bought for $799 this past August is now $950, the 7-14 is up to $1,750, the 35-100 f2is now $2,500 and the 14-35 f2, which was under $1,900 is now $2,250! All of these are huge increases compared to prices I've seen not that long ago.

I paid $899 at KEH for the 50-200 SWD. At the time I think B&H was, maybe, $25 more expensive, but now they want over $1,100 for that lens. Even the 70-300 is back up to within $30 of the priceI paid, which was $389,and I know it was selling for under $300 recently.

At $550, the 9-18 still looks like a good price to me for what you get, especially considering what the 7-14 now would cost.

It just got a lot more expensive to upgrade your glass, if that was something you had in mind.

HI Greg

I know a lot of the Canon and Nikon guys were pointing out the prices increases and how crazy they seemed to be and these seem just as bad - we have a strong yen but the icreases just seem a wee bit excessive . I thougt the 14-35F2 was rpice at mrp $2500 before the hike and thus was more expensive than the 35-100. I'm not going to check the UK prices ... I know its going to really hurt :O

I'm holding off buying any glass for now... the lens that I want is that 14-35 but no way at that price and Oly still haven;t fixed or acknoweldged that its got a problem with that lens.

Cheers

Harj

Just checked the UK prices and the SHG lenses have shot up by some £250..the others are about the same as before. My 35-100 from the same shop I bought it from is now selling it at £1749.99=$2500.00 USD. At the current exchange rates that doesnt seem too bad - still hurts looking at those numbers but when I bought mine at £1500 =$3200.00USD!

Cheers

Harj

I'm sure it will change when their current stock is exhausted, but Buydig still has some lenses at the older price. The 35-100 at $1950 and the 14-35 at $1899. The old 14-54 is still there too, at $399.

There are some others that have gone up. The handwriting is on the wall.

And this is the first time I can remember that there was no rebate offer over the winter.

Well, six months ago, the USD was around 110yen/USD, by December, it was 91yen/USD.

So if a lens was $800, then you might expect it to rise to about $970
