After a winter with practically no snow last night and today (March 27-28) we got hit with a cold front and 4 inches of the white stuff. My feeders were busy today and the poor little crocus plants took a beating!

A male Cardinal and Song Sparrow share a feeder.

The previous shots were taken with my 510 and the 70-300 at 300mm.
This last one of purple and pink crocus in the snow was taken with the 12-60 at 60mm.
One question for anyone in the know--I bought my 70-300 in January of 2008 and have never done any software updates. Are there any that I should do to enhance picture quality?

There are 2 firmware updates available for the 70-300mm lens.

TheV1.2 update applies to only users of E30, E520, E420, or E620 camera bodies.

The V1.1 update applies to all E series bodies and supposedly improves image stabilization performance.

Chances are your lenses already has firmware 1.1. It's easyenoughto check. With the 70-300mm lens mounted to the camera, go to the tools 2menu, scroll down to firmware and you'll see the firmware for both the camera body and lens.
