Default More E1 Color..

Hazy, cloudy conditions today made for good light to shoot closeups with the 50-200 SWD, with and without the EX25 tube..

Good morning Greg,

The E-1 continues to impress with great color and detail... I've always been partial to day lilys and tiger lilys. Your images of both are really well exposed and the resolution of the stamen with the anther on the Tiger lily are just beautiful.
nicely done!

Default Thank you Zig..

I'm off tomorrow for Amarillo and Palo Duro Canyon. My heart says take the E1, the two SWD zooms and the 9-18. My left shoulder and neck says take the E520 and a lighter set of lenses!

I carried and shot with the heavy set in my backpack for around three hours yesterday during this last visit to the Arboretum just to see if it might be a little too much on this trip. Did something to my left shoulder/neck area in my sleep (!) this past week and it hasn't felt so good for a few days now.

Bottom line here...I think I'd regret at least not trying it with the bigger set, so I'll take both and see how the first walk or two goes, leaving the smaller set behind in the trunk as a backup, just in case.

Good luck on your trip and I hope the shoulder gets better quick.
Looking forward to your post.

if I remember correctly, the Olympus E-1 used a Kodak manufactured imager. Perhaps that accounts for the great color.

Hi, Sarah!

Yes, it does, and I do believe you are right about the color.

Fantastic closeups Greg!!! Were these taken handheld or from a tripod?

Cheers,

Thanks, Gunther

These were all shot hand-held. I have a tripod, but rarely use it. I don't have the patience it takes to set one up for even a few images.

Great series Greg. Do you use flash at all or all available light?

Hi John!

Thank you for the comments. No flash, just ambient light. I did use a lot of spot metering on the lighter colors to try and bring out more texture than might result using a multi-segment reading.
