Default Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 EX DC lens samples

I recently sold my 14-54mm lens and replaced it with the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 EX DC lens. I had ordered it with the hope of taking it to Maine with me to a wedding we were going to attend. Unfortunately, it didn't arrive in time. But I did promise myself to try and play with it a bit this afternoon.
Here are some samples. Nothing earth shattering:

E-30, Manfrotto tripod, timer set to 2 sec delay.

added an EX-25 extension tube for the 2 that follow:

Since this is considered a macro lens, I was interested how it compares with an Oly 50mm2.0 macro. I sold my 50mm macro a while back but pulled out, what I think is the sharpest photo I ever took with that lens.
It's my personal benchmark:

It is pretty difficult to replicate the exact conditions under which the original was taken. But this is as close as I could get. Taken with the E-30 and Sigma 18-50mm. 2sec delay, Manfrotto tripod.

Hi, Zig

It's obvious you got a good one - those are very nice shots.

Hi Zig

those sample shots look very good .. shame it wasn;t a 12-50 f2.8 or 14-50f2.8, then it would be a very tempting lens to get your mitts on. It looked pretty sharp although that 50mm macro shot looks razor sharp.

Cheers

Harj

Hi Harj,
I've never had the privilege of using a 35-100mm or 14-35mm to be able to see just how sharp those two lenses are. But, I did have the pleasure of owning the 50mm 2.0 macro. That is, without doubt the sharpest lens I've ever had my hands on.

I still think about getting one again. But I just didn't use it often enough to warrant having one.
