Bob, I'm running a distro that is based on Ubuntu 9.04. It's absolutely great. It's called, "Linux Mint". http://www.linuxmint.com
It's Ubuntu on steroids. You'll want to pick up the appropriate version if you have a dual-core processor. Stick with version 7. Version 8 has a release client but is not ready for prime time. If you need any help, feel free to shoot me an email.
