Default E600: What's the deal?

I ran a side-by-side comparison between the E620 and E600 and found very little differences between them. Most reputable online retailers (i.e. Amazon, Adorama, B&H, ...) either don't carry it or the units they do have on their sites are refurbished/used. Considering how cheap the E620 already is, the E600 could not possibly target an even cheaper DSLR segment. So, what gives? Is this an absolute failure model from Oly?

At first, I thought it was released as a product that would be sold on home shopping networks. That doesn't seem to be the case. As far as I can tell, the E-600 was released in Aug of 2009 largely to keep Olympus' brand name out in the public eye as well as to make a more competitive dslr. The E-620 was released in February of 2009 @$700.00 while the E-600 was released @ $600.00.

To many, 100bucks makes a difference. Seeing as the E-600 is really an E-620
less some filters and backlit buttons, it's a great camera. Especially for what it is being offered today.

Considering that, as I said, the specs between the E620 and E600 is almost identical, I have no doubt the E600 is a good camera. However, it can't be found.

You can only find referb at adorama. They made the e600 for a limited time for the home shopping network and big online store. It was a promo thing only.

It is a very good camera, and if you did not use all the fancy filter. It made for a great Holiday Deal. That was the main reason Olympus produce them for the big online and shopping channels world wide.
