Default HDR with a e520

I am looking for some general step by step guidelines on how to do an HDR photo with an e-520. mainly how to setup the camera to take the 3 pictures required. First, are 3 pictures required? thanks

In the the Photo Critiques Section there is step by step stuff on HDR. You might look there.

Hi,

Look on page 50 of your E-520 manual and you'll find instructions on where to go in your camera's menu to access the AEBkt feature. If you don't have a manual, you can download it from Olympus' website. Look under Support.

Or,, if you just press menu on you camera, go to 2nd tab from the top (camera2)section, then scroll to AEBkt. change the setting to: 3frames @ .03 exp compensation.

I would then set your camera to burst mode, so that you can shoot the 3frames in a row. Also, using a tripod will dramatically improve sharpness and clarity of HDR images.

Note, that the E-520 can only bracket 3 frames.

If you want to really do the HDR process justice, three images are probably the MINIMUM number of frames you should be doing. If the scene is contrasty enough, five is probably more appropriate if you want to capture all ambient light levels and doing it manually, one shot at a time is no problem assuming the camera is set up on a tripod. Just determine your exposure, take that image and then bracket two stops either side.

If you determine, for example, at ISO 200 the correct exposure is 1/500 sec at f8, take the first image there, then shoot 4 more images. In my example here I would keep the aperture set to f8 and just change the shutter speeds for the next 4 shots, first at 1/125, then again at 1/250, then again at 1/1000 and last at 1/2000. Once you have determined the exposure you are going to start at, I would switch to manual exposure mode so you can control the shutter speed change faster and make sure the aperture stays at the initial setting.

If there's a lot of wind and/or fast moving clouds you want to do this all as fast as possible.
