Any idea how reliable are used lenses from B&H?

I have never bought used from B&H, but I have used them almost exclusively when buying new with the exception of a time or two when I bought local at Arlington Camera. I would imagine they are a pretty reliable source for good used equipment.

One second-hand source I recommend absolutely is KEH. Their grading system is ultra conservative...if they call something excellent, it is really closer to mint minus than excellent.

Hi,

As Greg mentioned, another source with an excellent reputation for used equipment is KEH.com. I've bought a number of lenses from both KEH.com and B&H Photo.com.

Whenever I'm looking for lenses and other accessories, I look at the used section of both companies and treat them equally as far as credibility and service is concerned.

I find that KEH.com's pricing is typically a little higher. But they rate their used equipment extremely conservatively. As an example, KEH.com had, this morning, 2 used 11-22mm lenses available. Each was around 530.00USD
B&H Photo advertised the used 11-22mm at 489.00.

That's why I posted the one from B&H.

That's it ... the price is right won again. I ordered the 12-60 instead of the 11-22 ... since I was able to get it at the same price (+- $50) ... It will probably become my everyday lens now

Thanks everybody for your advices! ... I jsut need to try it ... and post some pictures

Congrats on getting the 12-60mm. It is a major improvement over the kit lenses. Quite honestly, with the added focal length, it is a greta deal more flexible than the 11-22mm.

And, at the price differential, sounds like you did really well.

Curious, where did you end up buying the lens?

I found it at my usual local photo store (http://www.mcbaincamera.com/). I was able to get it for $899CND (new) instead of $1070 because they matched the price of another local store (http://www.donsphoto.com/). Looking at it, bringing it from the US will have cost me about the same or even higher (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._4_ED_SWD.html) with the currency + shipping + customs fees...

I will get it tomorrow and try it this week-end!

Congrats!

Funny enough, I had sworn off the 12-60 and was thinking of getting:
-Olympus E 14-54mm II F2.8-3.5
-Olympus ED 9-18mm F4.0-5.6

That would of been close to the same price as the 12-60, but you found it at a good price there my friend!

Hi,

You can still order some 12-60mm from http://www.donsphoto.com/.
