Because I Could

Generally I can recognize two flowers, one's a rose and the other isn't. These are isn'ts although I think my wife calls them tiger lillies.

These grow by our backyard shed and I noticed the afternoon light on them as I was heating the grill. Since I still had a little time until the grill was up to temp. I grabbed the camera and these shots.

1) Because I can, get close that is.
2) I find these flowers an "in your face" kind of so like to fill the frame to the degree that the ends of the petals are out of the frame but my wife likes to see the whole petal so the are to her specs.
3) My specs.

I like the picks, but these words from you:

Generally I can recognize two flowers, one's a rose and the other isn't.

are priceless. Should be enough to enter a Sufi way to enlightment.

Yes, those are Tiger Lilys. And, they are beautifully captured.

The stamen of this lily are so long and pronounced that I also like to focus on the stamen and leave the petals out of focus.
By the way, you really got the color right. The rich orange color usually comes out a bit too cooked. These images are really true to the color of this particular flower.
Well done and thanks for sharing.

Excellent capture of one of my favorite kinds of daylilly. Which lens?

That's the ZD 50mm f/2 Macro. I think I've managed to keep the EXIF attached to the photos.

I like both "specs", but not every flower shot should include all its parts. The ones that really grab my attention are the ones shot to your specs...
