Default Topaz V4.1 DeNoise software plug-in

I recently downloaded a 30day trial version of Topaz Labs DeNoise v4.1 noise removal software.
It is an easy to use, yet IMHO powerful software program that can be used as a plug-in for CS5, or PS Elements 8.0. I got the MAC version Elements 8.0.

I was actually pretty surprised as to how easy it was to figure out what to do. It's very robust, in that it has graduated steps noise removal that is based on the degree of noise present in the image.

I'm still working with it to determine what the best formulas are for use with the E-30. In the meantime, here is a before/after comparison of the same image shot at ISO3200.

You can read an in-depth article about this new plug-in at the Luminous Landscape:
http://www.luminous-landscape.com/re...re/topaz.shtml

Please note; I do believe that smugmug actually sharpens images up a bit so that they actually look a bit better when viewed from that site. I can tell you that the before image on my monitor (when viewed from my database) looks a lot more noisy than what you see here.
1st is before and 2nd is after:

I've been using the Topaz plug ins a ton of late with my Elements 2. The deNoise may or may not be as quick and easy as ACR (having never used it i don't know) but I have tried it on a ISO 1600 pic shot with the E-1 and it not only removed the noise but improved the sharpness. I've been most impressed. I also have Adjust and Detail. Haven't really figured out the last one yet but Adjust has been great. Only downside was that my 30 day trial ended after 20. So I complained and they sent me a new key for another 30 days. Still, Iplan on buying at least 2 of the 3.

Default ISO 1600 with E-1

Here's a before and after shot taken at ISO 1600 with the E-1 and processed with DeNoise. The after is on the left. As you can tell it made it much better to the point where i will now shoot with 1600 if need be.

You can always disable the default sharpening Smugmug adds by going to the bottom of the properties page for any folder. I've not checked the control panel to see if it's something that can be universally tweeked or turned off on all folders at once or not. Doesn't seem to affect files too much so I've never messed with the settings.
