Default Gathering Storm Clouds

Went to the Rangers game this evening. Early, it was looking a bit ominous with these huge building storm clouds that I captured two images of using my E30 and 12-60 SWD. Fortunately, it stayed dry at the stadium.

Storm clouds beyond The Titan roller coaster at Six Flags over Texas..

Then, beyond the stadium..

A couple of images from the game. Cliff Lee delivering the pitch..

The catcher did everything right...except...hold onto the ball..

Everyone except Michael Young at this point knew he was safe..

Elvis Andrus making another circus throw from short stop..

Just be thankful you get to watch Lee for half a season. Our year may suck big time but watching him for the time he was here was one of the greatest baseball joys I've known.

Great photos, Greg.

That shot of Cliff Lee really illustrates why pitchers have to soak their arm in ice water afterward.

Sharp images! Those are from the 50-200 SWD I presume... any idea on settings for those?

The two images of the storm clouds were shot using the 12-60. The game shots were taken with the 50-200 SWD.

Smugmug is filtered here at the office so I can't go there and tell you exactly what the settings were, but if you right-click on one of the images a new window will open with the file on my website and you can access the "info" boxes that detail the exposure and other settings.

Thanks.

Hi Greg,

Another fine set of baseball images. These are particularly noise free images.
Noise removal still being done with ACR?

....we've had some great 'stormy' opportunities the past few evenings. I like these quite a lot, saw the Young play (TV) when it happened and thought at the time it would make a good bb-action photo, well done.

Thanks, Zig. Yep, I'm liking the ACR noise filters a lot.

Hi Bob. Thanks. That sequence at home plate was excellent....I just wish the umpire had placed himself somewhere else! There's a middle image that woulda been good too, but Young was completely obstructed so I've not done anything with that file.

It was nice that play happened, as very little else did after that! I was caught off guard watching the game as a fan during a of nice plays the middle infielders on both teams made and completely missed capturing them. The pichers, especially Lee, absolutely dominated this game, which was nice to watch for a change...

I had my lens trained on second base to capture the steal attempt when no one covered the base and the ball sailed into centerfield. I had to ask someone next to me what happened at the plate as I initially figured it was a hit only to later find out Kinsler was taking the play off and didn't cover like he was supposed to.
