Default First Legacy Lens Acquired

Well I went and did it, bought a Olympus OM Zuiko Prime Lens 50mm F1.8 off eBay for 18.00 delivered, just had to get a rear lens cap for it. The cheapest I can find the equivalent digital version is 185 as my hubby only paid 209 for my Oly I cant justify the cost of the digital lens.

Will have fun trying to learn to use it but if I dont get on with it I haven't lost much

I am hoping that I will learn to slow down and think about what to take pictures of and how they are composed as opposed to just pointing and shooting.

I have read a lot over the past few days on the good and bad points of legacy lenses but for me the winner is simply the cost which I know should not be my main factor but at the moment it is.

When I can persuade my hubby to let me have the camera he bought I will post some pics!

Good luck, hope you have fun with it. Remember to use Aperture Mode, and practice your focus technique. Don't worry if you don't get a lot of "keepers" at first, as that will improve with practice.

Hi,
Congrats on getting the E-420 and your 50mm 1.8 lens. As Steven said; have fun and enjoy your new lens.

I'll only suggest that, if you haven't already, you may want to read this article by a fellow named Wrotniak regarding the use of OM lenses on olympus digital cameras. Reason being, he goes into pretty good detail as to the how and why of what to do to get the most out of your new combo.

http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/43/any-lens.html

And, post some results, when you have the chance.

Zig

Hubby has the camera hidden (in his draw under the bed) as its supposed to be my Christmas present (was going cheap so got it early) so still trying to get him to let me have it. We are off to Wales for the August Bank Holiday (in the UK) hopefully he will see the light and let me have it for that.

Turn the tables on him, buy him a new E-520 or E-620 and give it to him for his birthday, or some other reason, that is coming up soon. Then you will both have a camera, and you will have his to use before Christmas! LOL!

Love the thought but unless it has EVE Online branded on it and flies round virtual space he wont be interested

Ooopppssss done it again

Purchased a Sun 28mm f2.5 wide angle for a whopping 9.90 incl. delivery!

If its cr*p then I have not wasted anything but if its a good lens I can get on with then I've had a bargain.

Still no camera tho
